The mountain farms sit 600 metres above Simadalsfjord, with wide views towards Eidfjord. Seasonal road: drive up on the hour and down on the half-hour; follow signs. No walking or cycling through the tunnel. The separate hiking trail is very steep. Stay on paths and respect private land. Check road and weather conditions before leaving.

Follow the yellow route past Eidfjordvatnet, the burial mounds at Hæreid and the Hodna viewpoint. Gravel and paved surfaces, with an uphill stretch to the terrace. Wear walking shoes and allow extra time for stops.
